Welcome to Anime Review #73. The anime this week is Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san S 1
Aired:
Jan 8, 2018 to Mar 26, 2018
Synopsis:
Having a friend that knows you inside out should be a good thing, but in Nishikata’s case, the opposite is true.
His classmate Takagi loves to tease him on a daily basis, and she uses her extensive knowledge of his behavior to predict exactly how he will react to her teasing, making it nearly impossible for Nishikata to ever make a successful comeback. Despite this, Nishikata vows to someday give Takagi a taste of her own medicine by making her blush out of embarrassment from his teasing.
My Opinion:
Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san (Skilled Teaser Takagi-san) is a title that pretty much sums up what you’ll see in this anime: Lots of teasing.
Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san is an episodic slice of life/comedy anime with a bit of romance. It shows the everyday interactions between Takagi and the target of her teasing, Nishikata. Even though Nishikata is usually the loser of this seemingly one-sided teasing game, he still tries his best to come up with schemes to win against Takagi and make her embarrassed.
Even though that’s pretty much the whole premise, there’s a variety of ways and situations in which Takagi outsmarts Nishikata and makes him blush from embarrassment. This helps the anime remain funny and entertaining and there’s something to look forward to even in a simple story like this. So, the premise was executed well. The chemistry between the two main characters is very nice and it’s fun to watch their interactions. There aren’t many characters in the series, but they are all likeable. Their personalities fit those of innocent middle-schoolers.
The animation is really cute and expressive.
I love the soundtrack of this series! it sounds marvelous and it conveys the mood perfectly. Both the intro and outro are pretty catchy and fun.
Overall, Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san is a show that I’d recommend you to watch if you want something cute, lighthearted and relaxing.
